    Peer-review policies

    Books

KSHIP ensures that all book publications/proposals are peer reviewed. Authors can submit a book proposal online with specifications of the argument, chapters, intended audience, competing books and other details. Once a book proposal is received, it will first be reviewed by an internal editorial board. After an initial discussion with the authors, the editorial team will decide whether the proposal has merit to be considered for peer review, re-submitted with revisions or rejected.

Once the proposal has been accepted, the authors will then be asked to submit a full manuscript of the book with all chapters and the manuscript will be sent for blind peer review process by two external reviewers. Experts within the subject area are asked to comment on the strength of the argument, the methodology and the analysis of data, whether conclusions are supported by sufficient evidence/data, and if the submission includes up-to-date information on the subject and adequate referencing.

After review feedback is received the editor/ editorial manager will collate the feedback and ask the authors/book editors for relevant revisions, or accept/reject the book for publication. If revisions are requested, then these must be completed prior to the book being editorially accepted for publication. All reviewers must also provide a statement declaring any competing interests before sending it back with review.

Books that are NOT original research monographs (as often happens in Science and Engineering) will still undergo the same process as above with the guidelines that are applicable to textbooks, collection of essays or anthology of previously published/edited papers. In the case of previously published work, the responsibility of obtaining copyright permissions for reproduction will be with the author(s).

    Journals

All articles submitted to KSHIP journals will be reviewed by the expert international editorial board of the said journal. The overall responsibility for the peer review, acceptance or rejection of articles, originality of content will lie with the Editor-in-chief of any journal. However, all journals hosted on KSHIP should have blind peer review policies and also demonstrate a depth of expertise in the composition of the editorial boards.

As members of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), KSHIP ensures that journal teams receive editorial support, ethical guidance and professional networking. All of our journals adhere to the COPE guidelines for best practice.
